About
Built by a Locksmith. For People Who Want to Learn.
Dorset Lock Academy exists because great locksmith training shouldn't require travelling to a city, sitting in a classroom with strangers, or learning at someone else's pace.
The Academy
Why Dorset Lock Academy Exists
When I started out in locksmithing, the training options were limited — expensive courses in big cities, packed with students, where you spent half the day waiting for your turn at the bench. I learned plenty, but I always thought there had to be a better way.
Dorset Lock Academy is that better way. Based in the county I've worked in for over fifteen years, it's a one-to-one training experience built around the student — not the schedule. Every course is just you and me, working through the curriculum at your pace, with as much time on each technique as you need.
Whether you're looking to change careers, start your own locksmith business, or simply understand how locks work at a deeper level, the course is designed to leave you genuinely capable — not just certificate-holding.

Lead Instructor
Certified Locksmith · 30+ Years Experience · Dorset-Based
I've been a practising locksmith for over fifteen years, working across residential, commercial, and automotive jobs throughout Dorset and the wider South of England. Over that time I've opened thousands of locks, advised hundreds of clients on their security, and developed a deep understanding of what separates a competent locksmith from a great one.
Teaching came naturally. I found I enjoyed explaining the mechanics, watching the moment something clicked — literally and figuratively — and helping people develop a skill they could genuinely use. The academy grew from that. It's not a side project; it's the part of the job I find most rewarding.

What We Stand For
The Principles Behind the Training
One-to-one, always
Every course is delivered exclusively one-to-one. No groups, no waiting, no compromise on the quality of instruction you receive.
Practical over theoretical
You learn by doing. Theory supports practice — it doesn't replace it. By the end of day one, you'll have already picked your first lock.
Honest about what you'll achieve
Three days won't make you a master locksmith. But they will give you a genuine, solid foundation — and we'll be straight with you about what that means for your next steps.
Rooted in professional standards
Locksmithing carries real responsibility. We take the legal and ethical side seriously, and we make sure every student leaves understanding their obligations as a practitioner.
